A few things about the housing stock
The suburb was first subdivided in the 1930s on former coal company land, then built out through the 1960s on affordable, wide blocks. That history explains most of the plumbing quirks on this page.
The cottages date from the 1940s to the 1960s, in fibro, weatherboard and brick veneer, and many still run their original services. Anything original is old enough to be worth a look before it lets go.
